Camping, Sunburns and Color, oh my!

Hey NeverEver’s!

If you haven’t already seen me all burnt up don’t worry your chance is below ^_~. No but seriously, never confuse bug replant with SPF. NEVER. Especially if you are going to be on a 12 mile hike and your SPF is back at the camp ground. Just warning you all.

I really hate burning. I don’t like it and am usually pretty good with the SPF. I learned my lesson (or so I thought) about 4 years ago when I ended up with 2nd degree burns on the 4th of July. That day I didn’t have any SPF on and it didn’t end pretty. So after that pain and scare I am pretty good. Except when I think I already put it on and I didn’t.

Anyways, I want to get on to the camping. It was wonderful! So Beautiful! Lassen Volcanic Mountains is a sight to behold. A 9ish hour drive to get there but a sight to behold.

Hubby and I are definitely going back. We are planning next year on a 3 day weekend and kidnapping most of the family to take with us. Also, holding them hostage for gas money but that is a different story.

To be honest I haven’t weighed myself. I have been feeling really tired with the sun burn and still unpacking. As it is already the end of Tuesday I am going to hold off for this week. Lets start the weigh in again on Monday. Just wanted to let you all know that ^_^.

Besides Color Run’s are so much fun and after looking at all the pictures I can’t help but want to run in the color again.

Okay NeverEver’s, I am getting ready to head to bed. Have to be honest this burn…this burn hurts and is just sucking all the energy out from me. Plus I can only get my arms to work like a T-Rex so reaching for stuff is out of the question. Thank goodness it is only going to last a day or two more.

Motivational Thursday + A Recipe!

Man did I sleep good last night! After I warmed up dinner (took me 10 minutes w/ Food Prep) and went for a walk. Well after that I basically passed out. Earliest I have ever been to bed, at least in a while, 9pm.

I do have to say it felt good. Didn’t really workout last night…just slept. And you know what? I don’t feel bad about it. Apparently my body needed rest and it…well it let me know. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t want to workout today.

And it mostly worked out. No treadmill at work. Went to lunch late because of some extra little things that came up (yay…) and by the time I got down there both treadmills where taken (grrr). So I just had some of my leftover salad and got lost in a good book. Which is why there are no pictures (oops) I really got sucked in!

But before we start with the…late…Motivational Thursday, let me show off my dinner and workout!

I remade my Chicken Enchiladas but I did make some changes. Here is the recipe!
  • Chicken Breast cooked in water and then shredded. 
  • Saute 1/2 an onion and 1 garlic
  • Chili Verde (I used Archer Farm’s from Target)
  • Once the onion & garlic has been sauteed place the chicken and 1/2 of the chili verde in the pot and allow it to warm up. 
  • While chicken is being sauced up (yup my word) the other half of the Chili Verde spread it on the wheat tortillas. 
  • Heat up oven to 350*
  • Get the chicken off the stove and scoop 1 spoon full on to the wheat tortilla. Add light American cheese and 1 spoonful of quinoa. Wrap up the tortilla and place it into an oven safe pan.
  • Do the above step over until you have enough enchiladas to make you and yours happy. 
  • Rub the last of the Chili Verde on the top of the enchiladas while sprinkling some of the shredded cheese. 
  • Place into the oven for 10 minutes. 
  • Take out of oven and top with some light sour cream and cilantro. 
  • Serve to your family and bask in the compliments ^_~

But after that yummy dinner it was time to relax and then…it was time to sweat it out with Shaun T and Hip Hop Ab’s! 
It was Day 11 of Hip hop Ab’s and it was a sweaty one. Did Total Body Burn with my weights on the whole time! Although it was a sweat fest I didn’t have to stop once. I was able to power through the whole 40+ minute thing! 
I also found out that sweat stings when it gets into your eyes! Seriously that stuff hurts and makes you cry…Oy. My muscles are feeling it but I am looking forward to tomorrow! Going to get Day 12 done Woot Woot! 
Now it is time to head to some Motivational Thursday (make sure I get to Day 12)
I really think that people need to remember this. A bad day doesn’t mean a bad week.

Gah! It’s been a year ALREADY! — Giveaway —

Hey NeverEver’s!!

Okay so I really thought that this thing was next week. I was planning for next week. But no I just look back and it says 7/23/2012 as my first post. Oh looking back has so many memories but I am getting distracted ^_^.

So I am going to be hosting a giveaway to make this occasion memorable!! But before I get into that I want to review this past year…this might get painful lol.

Ah my first post. I remember it like it was yesterday (I am allowed to do this…its in the rules I swear ^_^). But seriously, it wasn’t an easy post to write. They never are I think. Its the first time that you are writing for strangers. People you have never even met before are going to know your high moments and your low moments. Its hard enough when it is just your family or friends but strangers? Oh boy.

But, I had been dreaming about doing this for years. It was something that I wanted to do. Hell, I even got the name down before I had my writing style ^_~.

Then there was the idea to label each post starting with what day it was. Like Day 1, or Day 3 and so on. I got to Day 56 then quit doing that. I didn’t like how I was missing days because I didn’t write. So things started changing. And personally I think its for the better.

But I do have to say that I miss having the BodyMedia Stats. I just not sure how I can post it with dinner on it…mmhhh.

I think I finally hit my stride when I started doing my blogging challenges. With AroundThePlate, #Holidayaday Instgram Challenge, 2013 Closeout Workout Challenge by SweetToothSweetLife (LOVE HER) and who can really forget (if you were reading blogs back then) the #Elf4Health.

Those challenges really brought me out of my own little shell and into the rest of the blogging universe. In which I met some wonderful people.

Then it was time for all my 5K’s that I have done so far. I found out that I actually like running. Go figure.

And in reality I can’t wait to see what my 2nd year of blogging will get me into. I have met some wonderful people, I have ran in 5k’s, brought things for my blog and have lost weight (not much but I have). I have hit my stride and it is going to be an amazing 2nd year, I just know it.

I Love (Hate) Running

Hey NeverEver’s!

Power was out yesterday so we basically just sat in the dark (we don’t have candles…which is something I am going to remedy) and played some of our boardgames. The phones went dead pretty quickly so it was like being in a little cocoon. No internet, No TV just us.

But I am glad that is over ^_~ Nothing is quite like the internet!

Yup. I maintained. Which I am not surprised about. Yes I worked out last week, and I am happy with my workouts, but I didn’t really watch my food intake. I ate out a lot. So I maintained. 
This week I have food prepped my whole week. So I am pretty confident in my Weight Loss for this week! 
However, I wanted to show off a few runs that I have coming up. Nothing quite like having a 5K coming up to get the butt into gear ^_~
First off is the Splash Dash 5k
This one is coming up on 8/3/2013 (next Saturday oh boy)
But doesn’t it look like so much fun? 
It is also supposed to be hot that day so I think its perfect. Gotta say I really love Groupon!!
Second is – Ready Set Glow
Yes I am doing another night run! They are so much fun! 
Plus this one I am not only running with the Hubby but also a Friend! 
It is going to be epic! 
This one is on August 17th. 
The Third Race is a Virtual Run
This one also comes with a Medal that I just LOVE! Have I told anyone that I am a Beauty and the Beast Fan? No? Well I am. Major. So when I say this I just had to get it. 
Also, I will be running this one alone. Hubby isn’t into Virtual Runs. 
Oh isn’t it so pretty! They also have a Half Marathon Beast Medal…but I am just not up to that yet. 
Really can not wait to get this Beauty!! 

The Fourth is – Bubble Run
Now this one I am running with the Hubby and another Friend!
I just love the ideas of Bubbles instead of Colors. I mean get clean while running right!?!?
Running this one on October 26th. 

 Yes I will also be updating my Race Page with all of these awesome runs that are coming up! I still can’t believe that I will not be running any of these alone but with Friends and the Hubby! Makes training for these all that much sweeter…especially since all of them can out pace me by just walking -_-. Sometimes having short legs and being on 5’0 isn’t awesome.

But I do have a love hate relationship with running. Currently running has been giving me better times on my 5K’s and I feel more confident then ever before when I see the track. But on the downside I am getting Plantar Fasciitis. Which basically means that I get heel pain every time I get up after sitting down for a while. In the morning I look like a 95 old grandma hobbling from the bed. Not fun.

I am going to the doctors as soon as I get insurance to see if anything can be done (not likely). But I didn’t have this issue before running. However, I do love running enough that I am not going to give it up. I like the freedom and how I have been pushing myself harder and longer then ever before.

So NeverEver’s, running does it for you or no? Have any races coming up?

Food Prep Sunday

Hey NeverEver’s!!

Welcome to Sunday!!! I hope you have all had an amazing week. My weekend went way to fast but at least my Food Prep is done!!!

However, before I get into that I got the Hubby a few new toys!!

Hubby got a new iPhone holder for the 5K’s that are coming up. He needed something to hold it while we are running. Fits pretty well and holds up to the runs so it is is going to be awesome!

We also got some yoga mats for the floor work of our exercises. Hubby’s is the thick blue one and I got the light blue one. It has a Motivational Message on it. I love it ^_^

The my Food Prep for this week!

Made some juicing juice. It was really nice getting back into juicing. One is a cucumber, carrot, apple and spinach. The other one is spinach, apples, strawberries and blueberries. They both taste delicious!

  • Got my Shredded Chicken for the enchiladas. 
  • Lean Steak with Corn. 
  • Lunch Salad’s with quinoa
  • Yogurt with Strawberries and Blueberries. 
  • Spinach Fettichini with Lean Meatballs

I am pretty satisfied with this nights food prep. I did it this morning after just deciding that I couldn’t sleep anymore. At least I don’t have to do this tonight ^_^.

Okay NeverEver’s, going to relax the rest of the night with the Hubby. We got a few new games and movies that we are going to have some fun!

WIAW

Hey NeverEver’s!!

Its Wednesday finally! YAY. Hump Day…only 2 days until the weekend! Plus I didn’t have any food slip up’s which makes today awesome!

Today, with my umm slip up yesterday, I decided to do a WIAW or What I Ate Wednesday. It was my way of making sure I didn’t eat anything that I shouldn’t have. Because, it is so easy to make 1 bad mistake into a bigger one by continuing it. So lets see what I ate ^_~

Started the day with some coffee and an apple. 
Plus I got my water in. This was my first one! 
Then it was my Lunch Run and my Lunch. Did a run with walking with some hills. I think my next 5K is going to be a little hilly so I want to be able to power walk up those sucks. 
However, for Lunch I went with my Spinach Salad with Apples. It is delicious and very filling. Water to Drink ^_~
Got my 2nd water bottle of the day. Still trying to drink 3 of these things while I am at work. 
Was feeling the hunger so I reached for one of my snacks. 1 cup of grapes. It is such an easy go to snack. Love it, especially when I am busy at work. 
However, I did come home super hungry! If I wasn’t so busy at work I would have had my other snack but just didn’t have time. So when I found out that the Mother in Law was making Sopes I was SOO happy!

This is how it looked at the end. Added some of the guacamole and lots of spinach. They were so yummy! Exactly what I was needing by the end of the day. 
Then it was time for the night workout. It was back to Cardio Workout and Hubby challenged me to wear weights through out the whole DVD. So I had the wrist weights and Hubby did the hand held. It really did make a workout that is becoming easier…suddenly harder. I was sweating by the end…really sweating. 
Then I surprised the Hubby with a Night Walk! It was really nice out and a good way to cool down from that sweaty Hip Hop Ab’s. Hubby did a nice walk while I had to power walk to make sure I didn’t fall behind. 
So NeverEver’s, that is my WIAW. I am quite happy with it and even happier that I didn’t allow a bad decision to effect the rest of my week. It is time for me to call it a night!

The Highs and The Lows

Hey NeverEver’s!

Welcome to Tuesday! How was it today? It wasn’t that great for me as it was kind of stressful at work. Seemed like it was never ending. It started way to early to tell the truth and didn’t finish until I got home.

Starting early last night I decided to try Dream Water. It is supposed to help you sleep better and let you wake up more energized. I thought it would be perfect since I had Boot Camp in the morning. Hey it was already 11 by the time I finished up everything. So I tried it. It didn’t taste bad and I had the Hubby have half. Well around 1 am I woke up with that feeling in my stomach, the ‘uh oh, something isn’t feeling right’. I did try to ignore it but suddenly I wasn’t able to. The Dream Water upset my stomach so much that I had to throw up a few times. No bueno.

So the Hubby wouldn’t let me get up for Boot Camp. He felt that I didn’t get enough sleep and with my stomach not feeling all that well he said no. Although I agree with him of course, it wasn’t easy for me to just allow myself not to go. I wanted to go, but I had to think about myself at that time. Not to easy.

But I made it up. With my lunch workout…kind of

If you have been following along I have been having left leg issues. Usually in my calf it seizes up like a charlie horse and other times its in my heel on my left foot. Always the left leg grr. Anyways, today it was the heel that was bugging me so I did what a co-worker recommended. Add hills. Walk it out. So for 1 mile I did between 9.0 – 12.5 level height and it wasn’t easy! Even though my walking speed didn’t go over 3.5 it was still tough walking up those hills. I kept wanting to grab on to the rails but I kept saying ‘NO’.

I did a mile and called it a day on the treadmill. Went to have my lunch salad. Which I am LOVING! It a spinach salad with apples and my light raspberry dressing. It tastes amazing and its really fulfilling!

Then it was time for my home workout. After an hour of just relazing while my Hubby was watching his Novella. I really needed it after work and it was just nice to just lay down and not think about anything except the book. Which…I need some new book suggestions, got any?
Today was the 2nd day of the Total Body Workout. And when Shaun T says its a Total Body Workout its really a Total Body Workout. OY! I even did the weight section with weights! Ya they are only 2 lb’s but that is more then my bare hands. I need to find my 3 lb’s for the Hubby…not sure where they are. 
It feels so much better to have it done then not have it done. I sweated, grunted and used some well placed words to get me through it. But it got done and that makes me happy. 

Then it was time for Food Prep. Don’t get me wrong I really like doing my Food Prep at the beginning of the week, it makes things so much easier and just not time consuming. But, knowing myself as I do, that really wont happen. So I do it the night before. Today is…

  • Apple Salad with Crispy Onion’s and Light Raspberry Dressing
  • Light Cottage Cheese with Strawberries and Blueberries
  • 1 cup of Grapes
However, it is time for a confession. I allowed work stress to get to me. I allowed my leg pain to get to me. I allowed some family drama get to me. And I ate it all. 
  • Half a Glazed Doughnut. I actually threw the rest away because I just couldn’t stand the taste of it. 
  • 1 slice of cake for a birthday of a coworker. Seriously it was gone before I even knew it. 
Now those where at work. I get it. There are pitfalls, candies and sweets, all through out the office. That is the world that I am in. I cannot allow those temptations to get to me. I cannot allow to eat my feelings. I am still learning this and it will take some time. I am okay with that. 
So that is why I worked so hard on my workout. Why I added weights to my workout. Yes I messed up, Yes I had sweets but I worked out. I didn’t allow myself, because of 2 bad decisions, to not finish the day strong. 
Okay NeverEver’s, I think that is really everything that happened today. It has its Highs and it had its Lows. I am ready for an even better tomorrow.
