Pretty Muddy Race Re-Cap

Hey NeverEver’s!

It’s Friday and I am writing…Although they may have more to do with the fact that I have been avoiding my blog. I don’t even know why it’s so hard to write right now. I open up a new post and I see that blank white page and I come up blank. Really can’t tell you how many times I tried to write this re-cap and just deleted all of it.

However, no more. I am making sure to write about this amazing event that I had so much fun for!

So I traveled all the way to Sacramento for this Pretty Muddy run. Now if you don’t live near California or haven’t visited from the Los Angeles area to Sacramento is about 460 miles (1 way).  Needless to say it was a very long….Long drive in which the hubby and I came to the conclusion that we will never drive it again. Next time we fly.

Anyways, I have to be honest and say I was super excited to see that water tower saying that we finally made it to Sacramento!

However, to be honest I was tired. I slept on and off while the hubby was driving and even when we stopped for a little bit it wasn’t the best sleep in the world. But I was here and I was going to rock the 3.1 miles that I got lucky enough to run and represent.

Oh and yes I made sure I cover my hair. I was not going to drive home with mud in it. That just wasn’t happening! But Pretty Muddy had me covered and given me this amazing bandana to cover my beautiful locks! That was also the hubby behind me.

Then we were off. I will be honest I had a plastic sandwich bag protecting my phone so some of the photos aren’t the best.

Now Pretty Muddy wasn’t going to force you to do any of the obstacles. As you can see here there is plenty of room to go around if you aren’t feeling up to any of them. Which I LOVED. My last mud run made us do all the obstacles and I was not ready for that. They were hard!

This one was an over the wall and even my short littleness was able to get over it!

Then it was time to run and crawl through some things but I first really had to take a selfie!

I also had to share my lovely mud hand! This was right after crawling under some rope. Oh so much fun!

I made it over! This was my victory selfie that I made it over a fence that was taller then myself!

I didn’t know that I didn’t get the whole sign until after (the sun was really bright) so the amazing sign says ‘All it takes is all you’ve got’. I loved that sign and what it said!

Okay so one thing that was AMAZING, about this run was that there really was no massive Hills. If you say my last mud run last year they had a hill of doom which was really a mountain in disguise. Pretty Muddy had a small lump in the ground that had a rope to pull you up. And I rocked it!

After the little lump it was the rope wall. And I will admit for a second there I was really thinking that I would just walk around this one. It was a little scary. But I decided to try it. If I couldn’t do it at least I tried!

And this is me after I totally rocked that rope wall! I was so excited.

One of the last obstacles before the end. It was supposed to be high knee runs but we all just walk stepped over these bad boys. At this point in time I was really missing my sunglasses.

And me and my Muddy self! I actually forgot to pick up a medal and the medal guy chased me down to give it to me. I was Muddy, tired, and having the time of my life with this mud run. But the real surprise came when I stopped my polar.

That’s right I finished this Mud run in 1:04. Which is tons better then my last mud run and as I stopped for every obstacle on the field I was so happy with my time.

I would and have recommend the Pretty Muddy 5k to everyone. They seriously need to come to the Los Angeles area so I don’t have to drive so far but other then that it was amazing!

So NeverEver’s it has been a big release to finally write this for you. So happy to finally share my amazing experience with Pretty Muddy.

2014 – Its Gonna Be Legendary

Hey NeverEver’s!

Man it is 2014, in fact it is already the afternoon on the first day in 2014. Time is already flying and really isn’t stopping. Or at least that is how it feels when dealing with blog / technical stuff that is way above my own computer skills. However, after a few hours and many chats later it has been figured out. It should all be fixed tomorrow then I get to add my widgits among other things. 

But for now…well now it is post time. It is time to bring in the New Year with a New Day. This is my plan for the New Year, starting with my runs ^_^

January

  • 1/1/2014 – My First 10k – Virtual Run 2014 Resolution Run 
  • 1/18/2014 – Hero’s Challenge Aladdin 5k – Virtual Run

February 

  • 2/1/2014 – Green Lantern 5k – Virtual Run
  • 2/9/2014 – Hero’s Challenge Flynn Rider 5k – Virtual Run

March 

  • 3/1/2014 – Batman 10k – Virtual Run

And of course these are just the Virtual Runs. I am still planning on doing many sponsored runs as well, just not sure which ones yet. As you can see, this year I am going to be doing some 10k’s, 6.2 miles, starting with tonight. I did decide after running more then 13 5k’s in 2013 that it was a good idea to up my mileage. Although for slow reasons, I am still building up my speed, I am going to stick with 10k Virtual Run’s and not do anything in a real race until I am sure the race won’t close behind me ^_^.

Since I am running both this year in the 14in2014 challenge I shall have both pictures up on the blog (tomorrow on the side of the page I swear). 

Still can’t believe that I did 17 5k’s last year! Yes that is right I did 17 5ks! It was a mix of Virtual and Real Runs and each of them is important to me. But I gotta say I loved getting the medals from those Virtual Runs!! 

So that is my running goals, which things can be added to at any time. But what about my other goals?

Well i joined Weight Watchers. Why? I miss having people that are walking the same path in person. The internet is great and I have met some amazing and inspiring people. But nothing beats the face to face. Also, as I have said in the past, working out isn’t hard its the eating right. And I need help with that. So, I joined. My meeting is next week. 

So that takes care of runs and food…that means we have workouts left right?!? Well here is my workout plan.

Or at the very least…Week 1 of my workout plan. Yup that is right I am doing my Turbo Fire. I got into it, got into week 2 then got sick and never picked it back up again. Its a great freakin workout. Seriously gets that heart rate up and even though its challenging I felt like I could do it…maybe with a few more second breaks then everyone else…but I can do it. So I am sticking to this workout plan. Also, just to let you know…this plan goes on for 4 months. It isn’t a 30 day or 60 day plan…this thing is literally months long. But with each workout different and getting progressively harder its a new workout every month. 

So that is Races / Food / Workout goals for this year. So what about personal?

Awesome 80s run recap

Welcome to Monday! My weekend went by way to fast. How was yours?

I should have written this yesterday I know but I was enjoying doing nothing. It was just one of those days.

But let me tell got all about my Awesome 80s run on Saturday that I did.

First I had to be up a 4 am as the run was scheduled for 7 am and I had 110 miles to travel. That wasn’t really fun but I did it.

Second I had to travel 110 miles to San Diego, right by Sea World, which is why we had such an early start.

Third it wad the first run that I didn’t have the hubby in the crowd waiting for me. They really did make a difference, it felt weird being all alone.

Fourth it wasn’t my best time. In fact it tied with my very first 5k, the commitment day 5k. My time was

48:35

Blah. Horrible considering I have been able to get in the 30 min range.

So what slowed me down? Especially since it was a flat course? Well my legs were hurting and there was a pain in my hips. Not sure if I was bad due to my sickness or just plain laziness. The jury is still out.

However, it was a fun run.

Regardless what happened i earned that Darth Vadar medal and i love it!

Also on my way home it hit me hard that this was my 14th 5k this year. I not only met my goal but I went above it. I had to shed a few happy tears.

Motivational Thursday

Hey NeverEvers,

Yesterday was my first time I have ever done 2 workouts in a row. And it felt amazing.

I started my workouts by rushing to my barre class at bar method. It starts at 4:30 so I really have to be out of my work exactly at 4. But I had gotten stopped to talk about my car by another coworker (she is thinking about getting the same car). So it was a little tight. But I only missed the first 2 mins.

After what seemed like forever in butt lifts it was time for bikram yoga.

Now I will admit. I did have a little more  lightheadedness then the first time. But I finished strong and took a knee when I had to.

And I had meant to write all about this once I got home. Well that didn’t work out at all. A shower and I fell right to sleep.

So today wad super busy at work…apparently the promotion team decided to send out a whole bunch of free sample emails without telling customer service or the shipping dept so we got flooded with orders. I was happy to get out of there today.

So by the end of work I really needed my workout. And it was time for…boot camp.

I did everything but the crunches. But I am writing this right before my bikram yoga. So let’s end this nights post with motivation.

Simple Yet Super Effective Tips To Help Those With Hypothyroidism Get into Shape – Guest Post

Welcome to Tuesday's Guest Post. Today is all about Hypothyroidism which is a Thyroid condition. Which is effecting more of us each year.

Most of you probably understand that it’s super easy to put on weight but ridiculously hard to get rid of it. But you might be surprised to hear that it can be even harder to lose weight and get into great shape when you’re suffering from a condition known as hypothyroidism. Your life will practically flip upside down if you end up suffering with this disease and it seems that it’s getting more and more common lately.

Right now there are over 27 million individuals all over America who have been officially told by their doctor that they are indeed suffering from hypothyroidism. But you will find that the vast majority of people that have the disease are yet to be given an official diagnosis. And so they are struggling and going about their lives without getting the treatment they need to get back into good health.

On top of the fact that hypothyroidism is getting a lot more common, there’s another condition that’s also getting a lot more notoriety. It goes by the name subclinical hypothyroidism. This condition (more often than not) comes about because of poor diet and a simple change in what you eat to healthier alternatives can totally flip things around for the better. Ultimately this condition will leave the person who has it experiencing all the symptoms that are usually associated with people that have hypothyroidism, but the thing to note here is that their thyroid will be working as normal!

Anyone with a low thyroid will find that they’ll have a really slow metabolism which will ultimately lead to them burning a lot less calories than a normal individual.

A person who has hypothyroidism will basically have thyroid glands that are not producing enough of the hormones, T3 and T4. These hormones are directly responsible for making sure that your metabolism runs as it should be running.

So not having enough of them will mean that you’re not going to be burning as many calories as normal. Hence the reason why people with an underactive thyroid find it so darn hard to actually lose the weight they want to lose.

However if you’re prepared to follow and implement the tips that I share below then you’ll be well on your way to losing the weight you want to lose, even if you’ve got hypothyroidism.




  • Get a Fully Qualified Doctor To Check You Out and Diagnose You



The most essential step of all is going to be to make sure that you get your local doctor to diagnose and then proceed with treatment if it’s deemed that you’re actually suffering from hypothyroidism.

How you end up being diagnosed will actually depend upon the results of the blood test that you’re given. This test will essentially be measuring exactly how much T4, T3 and thyroid stimulating hormone you have running about inside your body. You’ll only be told that you have an underactive thyroid if the test results come back to show that you have high levels of thyroid stimulating hormone and low levels of T3 and T4.

Should the doctor find out that you’re suffering from hypothyroidism they’ll move onto the next stage which is to give you some sort of synthetic T4. The most common form of medication that doctors usually prescribe is something that goes by the name of levothyroxine. It’s been designed to specifically get your levels of thyroid hormone right back into the healthy range.



  • Start To Get Your Diet as Clean As Possible



There’s no other step that’s going to be more instrumental to your weight loss success when you have hypothyroidism than making sure that you eat as clean and healthy as possible. This is the one step that will seriously help you get into amazing shape in no time at all. Every single meal you make from now on has to include a portion of vegetables and a good portion of protein.

While we all know that vegetables are really great for our us, few of us know just how important protein is when it comes to losing weight. Not only is it very satiating but it also helps to prevent any of your muscle mass from deteriorating. This of course is extremely important because the more muscle you have the higher your metabolism is going to be and the more weight you are going to end up burning.



  • Start Consuming High Fiber Foods and Cut Out Foods Rich in Sugars!


While getting on a clean and healthy diet is all well and great for helping you get into amazing shape, nothing is going to be detrimental than continuing to consume junk foods. You need to make sure that you stop eating all those processed junk foods because they are doing nothing but causing you to gain more and more weight!  Instead of junk, you need to focus on consuming foods that contain a whole lot more fiber in them.

The wonderful thing about foods high in fiber is that they will help you avoid getting any sort of long term constipation which is very, very common among people who have hypothyroidism. The wonderful thing about fiber is that it’s also extremely satiating which is great news when you’re trying to lose weight and get into great shape.




  • Exercise on a Regular and Consistent Basis


You might be surprised to hear this but even doing a few minutes of exercise every single day is enough to really get your metabolism to go up and up. So regardless of how busy and hectic your days are you’re going to want to do your best to get involved in some sort of exercise routine.

You’ll see even more remarkable results if you get yourself involved with doing things like weight training. Not only will you be burning calories during the exercise but you’ll also be helping your body build up muscle mass which is going to in turn boost up your metabolism.

You're going to end up shedding a lot more weight over the long term when you have a really high metabolism, and you'll be closer to getting the dream body that you’ve always wanted.

Always remember that the key to losing weight when you have hypothyroidism is to make sure that you’re consistent in the process.

Sunday is the Planday!

Hey NeverEver’s!

Welcome to the end of Sunday. It came to quickly and not that happily for me. I had completely forgot that my Hubby was leaving for a business trip today and wont be back until Friday. I will try REALLY REALLY hard not to whine to much about it!

Anyways, I will be 100% truthful with you all, you know that, so I didn’t make the BodyPump class this morning. The main reason is that I didn’t want to get up and away from the Hubby since he was leaving today. HOWEVER, I did make sure that I went to the gym the minute he left. No BodyPump but free weights and the stairmaster!

Which brings me to the lovely picture above! I was able to do 20 minutes on the StairMaster! Last week I was able to do 15 minutes and before that only 10 before that so I am SOO happy. I have been literally able to double my minutes! If I didn’t see the results I really wouldn’t have believed that I could do it!

So after I surprised myself with doing 20 minutes on the stairmaster I did some leg exercises and then some free weights. I have really fallen in LOVE with the weighted ball. Still need to get a few more exercises for it, since my gym doesn’t allow us to throw it against the wall. So I am currently using it for leg exercises. 
After my workout I headed out to the sauna to relax and to steam out a little. It was SUPER hot today so I wasn’t able to stay for long. 
So after the workout I thought it would be a good idea to get some food in the fridge this week. I decided since the Hubby surprised me with a juicer that I would do some juicing this week. It helps that I am only cooking for myself and can just concentrate on what I need. And this is what I decided.
I need to focus on 3 things on my food intake. 
1. More natural food, mainly veggies & fruit
2. Portion Control 
3. Snacks
I feel that I am eating to much, so I got some Lean Cuisine, to get my stomach and mind used to eating less. I do know that Lean Cuisine isn’t exactly the ‘freshest’ thing I could eat. It is always better to cook it yourself. BUT, since I am alone I would be cooking WAY to much and then likely eating it all. So, I want to teach myself what a real meal is and learn that I can be satisfied with that.  
There is also the juicing, which will help with the more veggies and fruit in my daily diet. Now, I will not be just juicing for all my meals. After, really really, thinking about it I decided that I need more then just juicing to eat. I want to workout and so instead of doing a ‘cleanse’ or a ‘fast’ I will be incorporating juicing into my healthy lifestyle. This seems more feasible for the long term then just going on a fast or a cleanse. 
Now about the snacking I have ALWAYS been horrible with this. Which makes it so much easier to just pull up to the nearest drive-thru. So I will be carrying around some fruit and almonds in my purse.I will be reporting in if that helps or not. 
So this is my plan for next week. Part Juicing, Part Portion Control and Part Snacks, with a lot of working out in between. I can not wait to see how the result is going to be for Friday’s Weigh In. 
I will be talking with you all tomorrow! I have a wonderful rest of your Sunday, there is still a few hours left ^_~ and an even better Monday! 

Its to Hot…Short Post!

Not much really to post today. It is seriously to hot here in So Cal to even think. 100 degrees is to hot for October.

Had that interview I was telling you about yesterday. However, I didn’t know it was for a ‘Sales’ position and to tell the truth I am not all that great at sales. I like being behind the scenes while working. I do like meeting new people just not in what I consider a ‘high intensity’ area that sales is. So I would be surprised if I get a call back.

Anyways this is gonna be a really short post just because I noticed that I did yesterdays stats…actually yesterday. Opps, sorry about that!

So no Daily Stats until tomorrow.

I am waiting for the sun to go down to go take a walk, hopefully it will cool off enough!
